URGENT: Tennessee’s special session on gun control (beginning on August 21) is quickly approaching. The legislation that will likely be considered — including a “red flag” law and a bill banning people taking certain antidepressants from owning firearms — severely infringe upon the God-given right to self-defense. Furthermore, these bills wouldn’t even have prevented the Covenant shooting. Tennesseans can give feedback of the special session on the governor’s website. Please contact Governor Lee, along with your state representative and senator, and urge them to oppose any form of gun control — and to instead expand protections of the God-given right to self-defense.
Tennessee politicians are seeking to enact a draconian “red flag” law — moving the state closer to achieving the Left’s goal of full civilian disarmament — while abandoning legislation that would expand and restore Tennesseans’ right to self-defense. It is imperative that state legislators reject gun control and instead boldly defend the God-given right to self-defense!
The tragic shooting at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 27 has given leftists another excuse to push their predetermined goal of civilian disarmament. Notably, they are conveniently ignoring the cause of the shooting — a radical, gender-confused individual who allegedly had a hatred for Christians — along with broader radicalization among “LGBT” individuals.
Unfortunately, many Republican politicians are caving to leftist pressure and joining the effort to incrementally make it impossible for civilians to defend themselves. For example, Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order strengthening draconian background checks while calling on the General Assembly to enact a “red flag” law.
“Red flag” laws are particularly dangerous as they allow the government to confiscate law-abiding Americans’ firearms — without due process or even an accusation of a crime — merely because they are labeled as “dangerous.” This violates both the 2nd and 4th Amendments. Furthermore, “red flag” laws wouldn’t even have prevented the Nashville shooting.
Meanwhile, expanded background checks will result in citizens needing the government’s permission to own or purchase a firearm — violating the Second Amendment — and it also would inevitably result in a national gun registry. Notably, California, the number one state for gun control, is also the number one state for “active shooter incidents.”
Regardless of the specific proposals being pushed in Tennessee, they are unconstitutional and only amount to advancing the Left’s civilian-disarmament schemes. For an illustration of its ultimate goal, one only needs to look at Canada, which is in the process of totally outlawing firearms.
Urge your state representative and senator to completely reject gun control — including “red flag” laws — and instead to boldly stand up for the Second Amendment and the rest of the U.S. Constitution.
Although we provide a way to easily email legislators, we know from long experience that it takes a lot more interaction with your legislators to get your point across than that provided by emails alone.
That's why we provide an easy way not only to email them, but to contact them by phone, tweet, and even video message them.
