His presentation includes discussion of Trade Promotion Authority and two free trade agreements currently being negotiated by the United States: the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.<\/p><p>President Obama is asking Congress for &#8220;fast-track&#8221; Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) so that he can negotiate and sign a &#8220;free trade&#8221; agreement with eleven Pacific Rim nations known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) that threatens American jobs and surrenders American sovereignty to international authority.<\/p><p>Congressional approval of TPA and TPP would hurt American business owners, Americans who work for a living, and even our ability to govern ourselves as an independent nation.<\/p><p>A vote on TPA could happen during the lame-duck session of Congress, which convened on November 12 and is expected to stay in session until mid-December or so.
