URGENT: Although Georgia’s legislative session is ending, HB 520 and/or its various provisions could still pass either later this year or next year. Not only did the Georgia House of Representatives pass HB 520 by a 163-4 vote, but Georgia leaders are still trying to get its provisions enacted in the near future. Urge your state senator to oppose this dangerous bill!

Members of the Georgia General Assembly are seeking to pass a bill that would expand the size of government while also potentially opening the door to the weaponization of “mental health.”

House Bill 520 (HB 520) is a 44-page bill that makes multiple changes to Georgia’s mental-health and other healthcare laws. However, the bill includes provisions that would expand the size of government while also allow governmental weaponization of “mental health.”

HB 520 significantly expands the size of government. For example, the bill would cost nearly $72 million annually, not including an additional $3.7 million to be spent within one year. A major portion of these costs would be to pay for the largest Medicaid expansion in Georgia’s history, and the bill would also require taxpayers to pay off student loan debts for students majoring in mental-health-related fields. Such a major expansion of government — especially by a ”conservative” legislature, is unacceptable.

Additionally, HB 520 gives broad discretion to unelected bureaucrats. For example, despite claiming that one of its purposes is “to standardize terminology relating to serious mental illness,” the bill doesn’t actually define “serious mental illness” — it requires the Department of Community Health to create its own definition.

Allowing unelected government bureaucrats to choose what defines “mental illness” is a slippery slope toward tyranny. Weaponized psychiatry is one of the Deep State’s tools to implement tyranny. The federal government has already attempted to implement “mental health” testing of Americans, and during Covid-19, individuals opposed to mask mandates and other forms of tyranny were labeled “mentally ill.” In reality, many psychiatric diagnoses are scientifically meaningless.

Contact your state senator, urging them to oppose HB 520 and any other bill that expands government and opens the door to weaponized psychiatry.

That's why we provide an easy way not only to email them, but to contact them by phone, tweet, and even video message them.
