Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and members of the New Mexico Legislature are seeking to pass legislation to ban so-called “assault weapons,” thus severely infringing upon citizens’ fundamental right of self-defense.

Governor Lujan Grisham has called on the Legislature to ban AR-15s and other semiautomatic rifles, and has promised to introduce such legislation.

The next session begins on January 16 and will last for 30 days. Legislators will consider topics the governor recommends, which now includes an “assault weapons” ban.

Gov. Lujan Grisham’s proposal is not her first attack on the Second Amendment. In September, she declared a unilateral ban on the carrying of firearms in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Her infringement of the Constitution was so blatant that even some Democrats opposed it, and a federal judge struck it down. But this did not stop Gov. Lujan Grisham from unilaterally issuing a new gun ban.

Not only would an “assault weapons” ban multiple commonly-owned firearms, but it would be yet another step in the Left’s effort to achieve total civilian disarmament — which, in turn, would enable total government control over our everyday lives.

Urge your state representative and senator to oppose Gov. Lujan Grisham’s proposed, unconstitutional “assault weapons” ban. Furthermore, urge them to instead support legislation that fully upholds the Second Amendment.

Although we provide a way to easily email legislators, we know from long experience that it takes a lot more interaction with your legislators to get your point across than that provided by emails alone.

That's why we provide an easy way not only to email them, but to contact them by phone, tweet, and even video message them.
