The JBS Agenda details our entire agenda in one publication and serves as a field manual for members. It is our 10-point game plan to reverse the drive towards world government and to restore constitutionally limited government.
Organization is the key: We recruit members and organize them into small, local chapters that work in concert community-by-community across the country. Each member receives our monthly Bulletin which provides Agenda updates and focuses on the highest priorities for the month.
Culture
Next to morality, The John Birch Society believes that education is the most important element of a free society. It is imperative that we see to it that the voice of parents in their children’s education remains free and unabridged by government usurping, if liberty is to prosper.
For it is only through education that there can be a well-informed populace. As Robert Welch, Founder of The John Birch Society, noted, “Education is our total strategy and truth is our only weapon.” We created FreedomProject Academy that offers a fully accredited, Common Core free, Classical education for Kindergarten through High School.
Family plays an essential role in the continuance of this great Republic. The family is the fundamental unit of civilization; it existed before the state, and it is the parents, not the state, who are responsible for the upbringing of children.
The family bears responsibility for the education of future generations of civic-minded voters and leaders, creating the moral fiber of this country, and ensuring that America’s heritage is faithfully passed along.
The John Birch Society supports freedom of choice in healthcare, including keeping medical choices between patients and their doctors. Government intrusion in the free market has done more harm than good, so JBS advocates free market solutions that create healthy competition that in turn drives prices down and quality up.
The John Birch Society supports regulated, legal immigration and welcomes legal immigrants to assimilate into the American culture by learning the founding principles of freedom, the proper framework of government and the English language. JBS advocates ending government assistance to illegal immigrants and not granting amnesty. It has been shown that when this occurs illegal immigrants often deport themselves.
James Anthony Froude once said, “Morality, when vigorously alive, sees farther than intellect ….” The JBS strives to educate individuals on the virtues of morality and how our Founding Fathers recognized that a free society could not long survive without a moral citizenry.
The United States
The John Birch Society accepts and endorses the philosophy of liberty and freedom as presented in the Declaration of Independence and the framework of limited government as structured in the Constitution of the United States. The Constitution clearly states the enumerated powers of the federal government; The John Birch Society believes the current size of the federal government must be greatly reduced to fall within its Constitutional limitations. Right now the biggest threat to the Constitution is the push for a Constitutional Convention.
The John Birch Society advocates an Austrian brand of economics (free market prevails) as opposed to Keynesian economics (government regulation prevails). It believes that businesses are never too big to fail and campaigns for the return of sound money as found in the Constitution. It also believes that the less government intervenes in the economy, the stronger the economy becomes.
The Electoral College, as established in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, determines the winner of the presidential election when electors cast their votes for president and vice-president at their respective state Capitols based upon their state’s election results. The John Birch Society fully supports the Electoral College because it safeguards the rights of the states by guaranteeing that each state’s allotment of electors is equal to the sum of its senators and representatives. This weighting of each state’s influence on presidential elections based on both its constitutional status as a state and its population is key to ensuring that the United States remains a constitutional republic and not a democracy.
The powers of Congress are described in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, and the creation of a central bank like the Federal Reserve is not listed as one of those powers. The Federal Reserve is charged with protecting the value of the dollar through managing our nation’s monetary policy. However, since its inception in 1913, the dollar has lost 95 percent of its value under the Federal Reserve’s monetary oversight. The John Birch Society advocates abolishing the Federal Reserve.
Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1801, “I deem the essential principles of our government [to be] peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none.” America would do well to heed this advice by abandoning its current role as global policeman and stop meddling in the affairs of other countries.
Many injustices are done to the American people in the name of national security. The JBS identifies that the federal government has a Constitutional obligation to protect its citizens but not at the expense of their constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
Whether it’s through NAFTA, the USMCA, or some other future trade agreement, globalists continue to push for an economic and political union between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, often referred to as the North American Union (NAU). Just as the European Union (EU) was built as a supranational regional government that now rules over 27 formerly independent nations, the NAU would be a supranational government ruling over the previously independent United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The founders were clear on the point of an individual’s right to keep and bear arms. The John Birch Society believes that gun-control laws do nothing but control the responsible individual and aid criminals. Also, the JBS opposes a monopoly of power on the part of government.
The Tenth Amendment states that the powers not delegated to the federal government reside in the people of the states. Thus, The John Birch Society believes that the states retain the power to nullify any and all unconstitutional laws imposed by the federal government on the states. Indeed, the JBS believes that states are duty-bound to do so.
While term limits may seem like a great idea to help limit the destructiveness of big-government politicians, term limits also force Constitution-abiding statesmen out of office. An educated electorate will elect genuine constitutionalists who abide by their oath of office. The short cut of term limits is not a long-term solution. The John Birch Society supports freedom at the ballot box and therefore opposes term limits.
The World
This United Nations program lays out a comprehensive plan of sustainable development locally, nationally, and globally in every area where humans affect the environment. Basically it’s the UN’s plan to establish control over all human activity, including man’s reputed contribution to climate change. The UN is at the hub of a global network working to submerge the independence of all nations in a world government controlled by the elites, and JBS calls for the U.S. to get out of the U.N.
While the brave men and women of our armed forces are sent overseas to fight in foreign wars in order to safeguard our liberties, our borders remain unprotected and vulnerable to heavily armed narco-drug gangs from across the border and our nation the playground to foreign espionage and subversion.
The JBS views trade agreements as “entangling alliances” that should be avoided. America should trade with all friendly nations but not enter into any regulated trade agreements — including “free trade” agreements. If trade is to be free, it doesn’t need to be regulated by thousands of pages of binding arbitration.
Only the U.S Senate is allowed to sign treaties on behalf of the United States. The JBS strongly believes that the Constitution is the law of the land and treaties should only be signed if they do not abdicate sovereignty. Any UN treaty will abdicate sovereignty and should never be signed.
One of the first campaigns of The John Birch Society was to get the U.S. out of the United Nations. The global power elites view the UN as their main vehicle for establishing, step by step, a socialistic global government controlled by themselves. Now, more than ever, we need to get out of the UN and remove the UN from the United States.
Science & Technology
By definition, a conspiracy is when two or more people work in secret for evil purposes. The John Birch Society believes this definition fits a number of groups working against the independence of the United States. Extensive study has shown us that history is rarely accidental.
The Department of Energy was established to help make our country less dependent on foreign sources, particularly oil. Since its establishment, we have doubled our dependency, directly as a result of the department’s policies. In fact, the entire government program that deals with energy is flawed and is making energy sources less available and less useable for an industrial nation.
The John Birch Society calls for responsible stewardship of our natural resources. It believes our natural resources should be used to the fullest extent via the free market and that the government should not lead the charge for new markets, nor should it hinder the growth potential of coal, oil, nuclear, and other natural resources found in the U.S.
One of the hallmarks of a free society is a free exchange of ideas and information. The Internet is a great tool that provides for this. The JBS believes that the First Amendment guarantees Internet users the freedom to freely speak their mind and the Fourth Amendment protects them in doing so anonymously. New technology does not change timeless principles.
The Fourth Amendment protects a citizen’s right to privacy and any attempts to legislate otherwise are unconstitutional. The JBS opposes all legislation that interferes with privacy and calls for its repeal.
