Members of the Oklahoma Legislature are seeking to enact legislation that would fully prohibit abortion, protecting the lives of all preborn children. It is imperative that state legislators support and stand uncompromisingly for all preborn human life — without exceptions!
Senate Bill 456 (SB 456), titled the “Abolition of Abortion Act,” is sponsored by Senator Dusty Deevers (R-Elgin) and co-sponsored by Senator Warren Hamilton (R-McCurtain). If enacted, it fully prohibit abortion in Oklahoma, protecting the lives of all preborn children.
Oklahoma’s current laws contain major loopholes that allow abortions in many instances. As Senator Deevers noted in a press release, “roughly 3,274 self-managed abortions are legally performed annually in Oklahoma.” SB 456 would remove those loopholes and truly make Oklahoma a “pro-life” state. As the Declaration of Independence states, all people are entitled to the God-given rights of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This applies to everyone — including preborn children.
Any exceptions to protecting the lives of preborn children, such as for rape and incest, are completely unacceptable since all humans — regardless of the circumstances in which they were conceived — are made in the image of God, and their lives must be fully protected. Furthermore, in the Ten Commandments given by God to Moses, the LORD explicitly said, “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13). And in Jeremiah 1:5, the LORD said to Jeremiah, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” In this verse, we see God acknowledging personhood prior to birth.
The Legislature must stand uncompromisingly for life and reject any compromises that water down Indiana’s abortion laws. Urge your state representative and senator to do just that and support SB 456.
Although we provide a way to easily email legislators, we know from long experience that it takes a lot more interaction with your legislators to get your point across than that provided by emails alone.
That's why we provide an easy way not only to email them, but to contact them by phone, tweet, and even video message them.
